Aloha!
The Outrigger Canoe Club is a private club founded in 1908 on the beach at Waikiki on what is now the site of the Outrigger Waikiki Hotel. Our original clubhouse was a grass hut on the beach. We moved to our current location and clubhouse in 1964. Many of our members are third and fourth generation members. We pride ourselves on being a family club and providing a family atmosphere.
Although the Club was founded as a surfing club to provide dressing room facilities for men and boys who had no easy access to the good surfing areas of Waikiki, it grew into the Club you see today which espouses not only surfing, but a dozen other sports, social activities, historical programs, dining facilities and the world's most spectacular sunsets!
From our beach, Hau Terrace and Dining Room Lanai, you can see all of Waikiki Beach and its famous hotels. Diamond Head looms majestically above the Club.
Our clean, white sand beach is a wonderful place to sun and relax. The ocean directly in front of the Club is a shallow, sandy swimming area that is perfect for swimmers of all ages and abilities. More expert swimmers may swim or snorkel out into the Kapua Channel to our windsock.
Surfers, canoe paddlers and kayakers will enjoy Old Man's and Tong's surf breaks about a quarter mile off shore the Club.
Volleyball players will find lots of competition year round on our sand courts.
Kapiolani Park, which is located across the street from the Club, is popular for running, walking, bicyling, biathlons, triathlons, softball, and soccer competition. The finish line for the Honolulu Marathon is about 400 yards from the Club entry.
We offer a variety of food and beverage facilities—formal dining in our Main Dining Room and Lanai, casual dining on our Hau Terrace and Ka Moi Lounge, and beach service in our Snack Shop. We also have private dining and meeting rooms for private parties, as well as catering services.
Our Chef and his staff are constantly perfecting new menu items, from local favorites, to haute cuisine, to titillate your palate. Chef's nightly fresh fish specials are sumptuous.
Each year, Outrigger members welcome thousands of Reciprocal members to the Club from our many reciprocal clubs throughout the world. We are also host to many Guest members who have been invited by our OCC members to enjoy Club facilities while visiting Hawaii.
Whether you are a member, a Reciprocal card holder or a guest, please take advantage of the many programs, athletic activities, social events and fine dining that we have to offer.
E Komo Mai! Aloha!
